Day 15

Tuesday, May 30th 2023.

Alora to Malaga.

The English couple who have owned this lovely farm just outside of Alora for the past 15 years (Sharon and Rich) have been kind enough to prepare a breakfast for us this morning. We enjoyed our fresh squeezed orange juice made from their own oranges while sitting outside in the morning shade after prepping our bikes for the days ride.
They also grow Lemmons, Figs, Olives, and Pomegranates, among other things high on their mountain slopes.

Up the driveway we go.

As the castle height upon Alora disappears behind us, we soon crest the hill leading up to Pizarro. So far this has been a pretty sweet downhill ride.

Having learned to trust in the Google map app, we followed the directions perfectly as it led us literally down the garden path through a farm filed parallel to the train tracks. It was an over grown dry field full of thistles and Artichokes that have gone to seed. This was a 15 minute foray though the brambles that did indeed work out and positioned us along the railway track as a high speed train whistled by and in a few short Ks we passed through the suburb of Distritozeta.

It was smooth sailing from this point on with the Via Verde bike routes through Malaga that led us past the university and right back to Bike2Malaga for a celebratory beer and a return our bikes.

With only 3% remaining on my phone battery, we show our digital boarding pass for the train in Malaga and head out to meet our friends Carla and Roger in Grenada. We arrive just as the sun sets and it’s a whole new adventure in a new city.
